W.M.S.F. rEPORT: VISIT TO OFFIN JAGO

The M.S.G. (Mission Support Group) sub group in Epe visited three mission fields in the riverine area under Epe/Ibeju Local Government (Lagos State, Nigeria) namely Emina, Saga and Offin Jago on Saturday 23rd of February 2008 to share the love of Christ with young converts there and the missionaries working on the fields. Some of the pictures taken at the first place visited (Offin Jago) are published with this article.

Some years back, an evangelist visited this village to preach to the people and some people got converted to Christ. Afterwards, he occasionally goes over to share the word of God with them. The zeal they have for the word of God made them to build a Church (see picture) on their own so that whenever the evangelist comes they will have a place to gather and listen to the word of God. Due to distance and financial constraint, the evangelist may not visit them for more than a month. In fact, for some months untill then the evangelist could not visit them. Hence, the people have been discussing with the missionary at Saga to spare part of his time for them or preferably get someone that will be coming regularly to teach them the word of God and pray with them at least every Sunday. Behold their hunger for the Word God and No teacher to teach them, No Pastor to shepherd them! During the visit, they were encouraged and promised that someone would be sent to them soon who will be coming regularly to teach them and pray with them.

Prayer Requests

Kindly pray fervently that God will raise and prepare His servant(s) that will be burdened for the spiritual growth of these people and the salvation of the remaining unsaved souls (who are still idol worshippers) in the community. Also, pray that their hunger for the word of God will continue to increase day by day and their love for Christ Jesus will wax stronger. Pray that Jesus Christ will continue to be more at home in their hearts day by day. Pray for the renewal of strength for the evangelist who certainly is still going to other villages to preach the word of God. Thank God for the safe delivery of the new born baby (who was born on Tuesday of the week of our visitation) despite there is neither hospital nor nurse in the community. Pray that the baby will grow in stature, wisdom, favour with God and favour with men.
