W.M.S.F. rEPORT: VISIT TO SAGA
The M.S.G. (Mission Support Group) sub group in Epe visited three mission fields in the riverine area under Epe/Ibeju Local Government (Lagos State, Nigeria) namely Emina, Saga and Offin Jago on Saturday 23rd of February 2008 to share the love of Christ with young converts there and the missionaries working on the fields. The following is a review on the visit to Saga.
This area is a remote waterlogged community accessible only by boat, having neither block buildings, modern structures nor motorable roads. During raining season the lagoon flows over its bank into the community. The mission work their is currently attended to by a missionary gentleman who comes into the town from time to time and evangelises the area as well as a missionary team who come to conduct services for them every sunday.
A family in the community allowed their living room to be used for church service every Sunday and other days for church programmes. The same family donated one of their rooms in another building within the community for the missionary to be staying whenever he is on the field.
The community has recently giving a land beside this building for church to erect her own building. The church congregation are very zealous to serve God and worship regularly. Hence, they are looking for means of erecting a permanent structure on the land given to them for their church services, moreso that the sitting room can not even contain half of the congregation at present. The estimated cost of the building to be erected (which is going to be made of wood, bamboo, and zinc among other things – as applicable to buildings in this riverine community) is N250,000 [about $2,000].
